I Won!
Friday October 06th 2006, 10:23 pm - Category: Gambling

Royal Flush

So I won the poker tournament I played in tonight. That’s another $200 in my pocket bringing my total to $1,000 in poker tournament winnings thus far this year. Since I’ve won back to back weeks, I’d say this brings up my winning percentage up a bit to 1 win every 5 tournys. So $200 every 5 tournmanets equals an average of $40 per game, at an hour per game, that’s a $40 per hour average now.

PS: No I didn’t get a royal flush..

Playing in a Poker Tournament Tonight
Friday October 06th 2006, 4:28 pm - Category: Gambling

Poker and Chips

I’m playing in my weekly online no limit poker tourney tonight, $200 to the winner. I’ve been playing for the last year off and on, every Friday night, when I remember to make it. I’ve won 4 times thus far for a cool $800.

I’d say I win once every 6 times I play. That’s $200 earned every 6 games. Each game lasts about an hour. That comes out to a cool $33.33/hour. Nice work if you can get it.

Lets hope tonight I make it to $1,000 in winnings.

Week 4 NFL Bet Results
Wednesday October 04th 2006, 2:41 am - Category: Gambling, Making Cash

I thought I was going to do much better than I did. I guess that’s why they call it gambling. Here’s the one that really got me. The Cardinals and Falcons scored a total of 42 points, I had bet they’d get 40 or below, so I barely missed that one, but I really thought that was a sure-bet. I’m glad I didn’t wager more than $20 on that one.

Here’s the results. I went 4-2 this week.

I said the Bears would beat the Seahawks by 3 or more and they did. Add $12.90 to my account.

I said the Saints wouldn’t lose to the Panthers by more than 7 and they sure didn’t, they lost by 3. Add $18.18!

I said the Cardinals and Falcons would score 40 points or less, they ended up scoring 42. Subtract $20 :(

I said the Cowboys would beat the Titans by 10 points or more. They won by 31. Add $18.18 to my account.

I said the Vikings would win by one against the Bills, they lost by 5 so I lost another $20 there.

Finally, I said the Jets wouldn’t lose to the Colts by 11 or more, they lost by 3 in a great game, so I win $13.33.

Total Wagered This Week: $120

Total Won/Lost This Week:  +$22.59

Total in Sports Book account: $158.16

I’m seeing steady progress upwards every week, but it’s going really slowly.. at this rate I’ll end up at $200, which is a 200% return on my investment, but I’m looking for a 500% return :)

The $500 Challenge continues!

Online Gambling Now Illegal

At the 11th hour, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist managed to attach his anti-gambling bill to the Ports Security Bill and both bills were subsequently passed through the Senate.

The bill now only needs to be signed by President George Bush to become law, and it is widely expected he will sign it before congressional elections early in November to gain support from the political right.

The online gambling industry had been reeling this year already from the arrests in the US of gambling executives Peter Dicks and David Carruthers, but there were few analysts who thought the anti-gambling bill would be passed through the US Senate in time. Had Frist not been able to attach the bill to the more important Ports Security Bill, he would have had to reinitiate the entire process next year.
Frist was quoted as saying: “Gambling is a serious addiction that undermines the family, dashes dreams and frays the fabric of society. For me, the bottom line is simple: internet gambling is illegal. Although we can’t monitor every online gambler or regulate offshore gambling, we can police the financial institutions that disregard our laws.”

There are those that believe the Republican moves to restrict the accessibility of payments to online gambling institutions is more likely to be due to a desire to restrict the flow of money to overseas-owned gambling institutions, many of which are publicly listed on the UK Stock Exchange.

Despite strong protests from the banking industry, which pointed out enforcing the measures would be impractical and expensive, the bill was passed and now financial organizations will be required by law to block electronic transfers of funds to online gambling companies.

It is believed many clients will find alternative payment routes, such as NETeller, but the majority of online gambling companies’ US business will be affected.

Week 4 NFL Bets
Saturday September 30th 2006, 11:10 pm - Category: Gambling, Making Cash

I went a little crazy with my betting this week. I placed 6 $20 wagers for a total of $120 on the line. My account is currently at only $15.57. This is the make-it or break-it week. If I’m going to make it to $500 by the end of the season, I’m going to need to win 5 out of 6 of these bets.

NFL Week 4 Bets Part 2

Are any of these bets a “lock” ? I’m extremely confident that the total score of the Cardinals Falcons game will be 40 or under. Why? A few years ago, the Falcons beat the Cardinals 6-3! And last week, the Falcons scored only 3 points against New Orleans on Monday night. After a hyped-up game and less time to practice, I don’t see the Falcons scoring more than 20 points this game. I nearly bet more than $20 on this one..

Lets see how I do this week, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Week 4 NFL Picks Part 2
Week 4 NFL Picks Part 1
The number in the []’s means what weight I placed on each game. 14 being the one I’m most sure of, to 1 being the one I have least confidence in. Last week the spreads were real small, this week they’re huge. I don’t think most of these teams can cover the spread.
The game to watch is SD vs BAL, I’m not sure about this one, but I’ll take the points. If the Chargers win it’ll be by a late game field goal. This game is certainly a game I won’t be wagering on.

NFL Week 3
Saturday September 23rd 2006, 10:52 pm - Category: Gambling

This week is a real tough week. I only made a couple of $10 bets. I certainly won’t make it to $500 by betting this little. But it’s a start.

Ravens to beat the Browns by 8 points or more.

Bears to beat the Vikings by 3 points or more.

Turning $100 Into $500 - The NFL Challenge
Saturday September 16th 2006, 7:01 pm - Category: Gambling, Making Cash

I’m adding $100 to my Sportsbook.com account, and by the end of the NFL season, I predict I’ll finish with $500. Each week, I’ll be placing a few bets, probably $20 each. I’ll be posting my results here every single week. Let the challenge begin..

Gambling on the NFL
Thursday September 14th 2006, 10:45 pm - Category: Gambling

The NFL season has started and it’s time to start making some bets on Sportsbook.com. I decided not to make any bets on Week 1 and I’m glad I did. Lots of road teams won and there were plenty of upsets. Week 1’s are always so unpredictable. Week 2 should be tough also. Good teams that lost their first game don’t want to start off 0-2 because then it’s time to panic. Let’s see a few games I might be betting on this week.

New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are favored by 3. I might pick the Giants on this one. This team may end up in the Super Bowl and they can’t start off the season 0-2.

New Orleans Saints vs Green Bay Packers. The Saints are favored by 2.5. I got the Packers on this one. Even though the Saints won their first game, even though they have Reggie Bush at running back and Drew Brees at QB, the Packers completely annihilated the Saints last year. I believe it was a 40+ point victory. This game is going to be close and this is one of the only games the Packers have a shot at winning this year.

Gambling as a Second Job?
Tuesday July 11th 2006, 6:42 pm - Category: Business Ideas, Gambling

I’ve been playing Black Jack at Party Poker a few days now, and to my surprise I’m actually winning. With the $100 I started with, I’m now up to $175.50 and I’ve only played for just under 2 hours total.

I only play in stretches of 10-20 minutes at a time. That way, I’m only playing around with my profits, and I don’t stick around long enough to get on a losing streak.

Considering the $75.50 earned in 2 hours, that’s $37.75 per hour. After probably about 20 hours I’ll be able to get a better idea of just how much money per hour can be earned with this “profession”. I think I’ll start an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of things..

BlackJack at Party Poker
Saturday July 08th 2006, 6:27 am - Category: Gambling, Making Cash

I thought Party Poker only offered poker. You know, Texas Hold ‘Em or Omaha, but they have Black Jack too. Last year I tried out playing Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, at the $1/$2 tables. I barely broke even so I gave that up until my poker playing skills got better.

Today I tried out playing Black Jack at Party Poker. I always like to start out with a little bit of money, betting small amounts, just to get a feel for the game. If I’m successful then I work my way up.

I deposited $100 and I also used a bonus code, PC25, which gave me an extra $100. I could have used bonus code PC100 and that would give me 20% extra. Meaning if I was to deposit $500 Party Poker would give me an extra $100 to play with.

I played only about 10 hands and I was quickly up $40, then I just stopped playing while I was ahead.  Who knows what the future will hold in regards to me and BlackJack, but if I can manage to make $20 per hour playing Black Jack, that’s not a bad work-at-home opportunity for me.
Remember, it’s not considered gambling if you always win..
